Statistics for the data you already keep in Google Sheets
ALS Stats Labs is an SPSS-like statistics environment that works on your own spreadsheets. You get a familiar research workflow — data view, variables, analyses, output — without installing SPSS, R or Python. Your raw data never leaves your Google Drive.
How it works
-
Install the ALS Stats add-on
The add-on adds statistical functions to Google Sheets. Every calculation runs inside your own spreadsheet.
-
Connect a spreadsheet
You pick the file yourself through the Google file picker. We get access to that file only — nothing else in your Drive.
-
Work in a familiar interface
Choose variables, run analyses, read the output as proper tables. The site drives the calculation; the spreadsheet does the maths.
-
Keep everything in your file
Variables, settings, results and history live in service sheets inside your own spreadsheet, not on our servers.
Why it is built this way
Your data stays yours
Raw data is never copied to our servers. We store a pointer to the file and your account — not the contents.
A familiar workflow
Data view, variable view, analyses, output and history — the structure researchers already know from SPSS and JASP.
Nothing to install
No SPSS licence, no R, no Python environment. A browser, a Google account and a spreadsheet are enough.
Results you can keep
Output is written back into your own file, so it stays available in Google Sheets even without us.
What is planned
The service is under active development. These are the modules on the roadmap, roughly in the order they are being built.
- Projects — connect a spreadsheet, manage your connected files.
- Data view — browse the data, spot missing values and problem columns.
- Variable view — names, labels, measurement scales, value labels, missing values.
- Descriptive statistics — means, dispersion, distributions, frequency tables.
- Reliability — scale analysis, including Cronbach's alpha.
- Tests — comparisons of groups and related tests.
- Correlations and regressions — bivariate and multivariate models.
- Output and reports — readable tables, exportable results.
- History — a log of what was run, with the parameters used.
- AI assistant — optional help with choosing and interpreting analyses.
Who it is for
Students writing coursework, dissertations and theses; teachers of statistics and research methods; researchers in psychology, education and the social sciences; and anyone whose data already arrives through Google Forms into a spreadsheet.
Status: this site is a placeholder while the service is being built. The ALS Stats add-on for Google Sheets is already available and works on its own — see als-stats.net.
